Hey there foodies! If you’re planning a trip to Ireland, you absolutely cannot miss out on the charming and vibrant city of Galway. Not only is it known for its lively music scene and picturesque streets, but it’s also a hub for some of the best food you’ll find in the country.
First things first, let’s talk about breakfast. For a tranquil river view and a beautiful cafe-style menu, check out the Corrib House Tea Rooms – only a couple minutes stroll from our front door. For a traditional Irish breakfast, head around the corner to Revive Cafe where they serve up hearty plates of bacon, eggs, sausages, potato bread and black pudding.
Moving on to lunch, there are plenty of options to choose from. For a quick bite, grab a sandwich or wrap from McCambridge’s, a deli and bakery that’s been around since 1925. You also can’t miss Meltd for the cheesy, gooey sambo of your dreams. If you’re in the mood for some seafood, McDonagh’s is a crowd favourite for a quick bite or takeaway, and you can’t go wrong with Hooked in the West End for seafood straight from the market.
Now, on to dinner. Galway has a vibrant and diverse dining scene, with something for every palate. For a taste of Galway’s favourite pizza joint, head to Dough Bros. If you’re in the mood for pub grub, Caribou is a staff favourite, with a great selection of burgers, wings, and other comfort foods (and only a couple doors down from the hostel!). Did you say cocktails? We love Hole in the Wall and Buddha Bar –and of course the food is fab too!
Finally, we can’t forget about dessert! If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll definitely want to check out Java which offers a mouth-watering variety of crepes and other sweet treats – boozy hot chocolate anyone? If you’re looking for something even more indulgent, Murphy’s Ice Cream has some of the creamiest and most delicious ice cream you’ll ever taste. Our current favourite is the Micil Irish Cream – but why not taste them all!
A night out on the town in Galway wouldn’t be complete without a late night visit to SuperMac’s. A west coast icon and absolutely delicious!
So there you have it, folks. Galway City has something for everyone, and its food scene is no exception. Make sure to come hungry and ready to indulge!
