Planning a trip to Galway this summer? We’ve got you covered on all the best things to do on a sunny day in the City of Tribes.
A rare sunny day in Galway can’t be taken for granted, so grab your SPF (and your rain jacket just in case) and head out for an adventure.
Start off your summer day by visiting one of our favourite cosy sun-filled cafes. Only a few minute walk from the Woodquay Hostel, the Corrib House Tea Rooms offers delicious breakfast paired with amazing views of the Salmon Weir and Corrib River.
Or head over to Galway’s West End for a cup of tea and pastry at The Secret Garden. Hang out with the café cat and enjoy one of their amazing original tea blends.
If you’re looking for an afternoon picnic, pop into McCambridge’s for some classy snacks and cold drinks and head down to the Spanish Arch. Locals and visitors love this spot for a sunny hangout near the water. In the bay you’ll be able to spot some swans and maybe even a few seals if you’re lucky. Chill out and soak up the sun before taking a beautiful stroll along Galway’s endless canals.
On the weekends, head down to the market at St. Nicholas Church. Wander through the stalls of fresh produce, food trucks, handmade jewellery, woodworking, fresh flowers and more.
Take a 45 minute stroll down to the Salthill Prom for a nice trip to the beach. Make like the locals and take a dip in the sea or even jump off the Blackrock Diving Board if it’s high tide. On Wednesdays, join the Woodquay Team for a swim at 5pm at Ladies Beach and you might just make it onto our Insta story!
