Take a stroll with us…

The Long Walk

Well, what can we say…. a lot? Salthill is a Galway gem that we all love.  When walking the promenade every evening (sun, hail, rain, or snow), you escape the city and world around you.

Start your walk from Nimmos Pier (enjoy the beautiful view of the Long Walk) and walk along South Park and continue past the famine memorial from here you will hit some amazing Galway beaches.

If you are feeling peckish call into Ground&Co for their amazing homemade sausage rolls…. delish!

I personally love the funfair during the year, take a ride on the big wheel and look out over Galway bay…. it is a sight to see.

Grab a coffee or coconut in the Jungle Cafe hut, sit and enjoy the scenery of the Burren from across the bay. Walk to the end of the prom near the campsite and that’s where you’ll find the real silence. You can walk along the beach… if the tide is out or if whip off your pants and walk through the water!

Walk up to the little cliff and enjoy the scenery of the Bay, The Burren, and even Sliver strand beach.

On your way back stop and get your kit off, and into your trunks for a dive off of Blackrock diving board… if you are brave enough of course!

Enjoy an amazing West of Ireland sunset while you dry off.

We at the Woodquay Hostel have a few secret spots in Salthill, so call in and we will show you just where to go 🙂
